Conclusion

I therefore conclude that the Third Quarter is great especially when you are not cramming you're project. Learning Microsoft Excel is a fun-learning experience. My favorite topic is the Macros. It's just simply amazing.

The 3rd Quarter was done. Year 2013 ends. Here comes the 4th Quarter and another peaceful year of 2014.

Hi Christmas,
Please hear my prayers and yeah 2014 please be good to me :D
Truly yours,
Kirsten XOXO

Macros

Every time I heard the word Marcos I would always imagine macaroons. The yummy macaroons of Goldilocks ^____^

Ok back to our topic. Macros are shortcuts in Excel. I was amazed when Sir Tom discussed us how to make a macros. Well, it was very easy. You need to record the procedure then don't forget to stop the record. Then press the keys of your macros then tadaaaa you have you're macros.

My first workbook was an epic fail because I didn't save it as a "Macro-Enabled Workbook" so the next day I repeat it. No. I mean I cram it. I started from the scratch. I had a hard time at the Marco Game. COOL - best word to describe our activity. I spent my time fixing my game and doing the Conditional Formatting.

Hint is a synonym of ANSWER xD

We had our first Long Test at Computer Science 1. The test is composed of a "minnie minnie my nemo" or also known as Choose the letter of the correct answer and "Bahala na si Batman" or also known as Fill in the blanks.

I had a hard time finding my luck while answering the first part of the test. Because seriously I do not take down notes during the discussion so yeah I used a common technique to pass the exam by "minnie, minnie my nemo". The second part of the test is somewhat easy because of hints. Sir Tom made the test a little bit easy by the hints which you can get if you're not LG.Some of Sir Tom's hints are "Type mo to!" which is the answer is Data Type, "Don't think outside the box"- Namebox and my favorite "It's not about the money" which is very obvious a dollar sign ($).

But yeah you would be able to get a high score if you study or even listen to Sir Tom and not by luck :)

I just survive + another epicness

Hey! I just survive from the previous lesson which is *insert drumrolls* IF Condition. Today, I will share to you some MS Excel awesomenesssssssssssssssss. . . . . .*insert drumrolls again* CHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAART.

Excel is a colorful, interesting and uhmmm. .little bit difficult Bill Gate's invention. How awesome is that? You can make charts out of data. And seriously our activity in chart is an epic fail because on the 3rd sheet I didn't saw the other data so my chart turn out to be a disaster.

LESSON: Do not sit at the back or else you're work would be an epic fail -____-

Brilliant Mind

" I will always choose a lazy person to do a difficult job, because, he will find an easy way to do it" - Bill Gates
Have you ever heard Bill Gates?

Bill Gates is the suspect why my grade in  Com. Sci is always 1.75. Jogoooooooooo. Bill Gates is the inventor, programmer and former chief executive and current chairman of Microsoft. How brilliant he is to invent such a thing that will make Com. Sci harder and more complicated and can cause the student to get a low grade and he/she will not able to be a DL. I admit, he is very brilliant to create a thing that will make a work easier and with a high quality.

Math in MS Excel

Math + Com. Sci = WORST NIGHTMARE EVEEEEEER!

How COOL was that? You can compute your own grades or just get an answer for your math problems in MS Excel. You need to put the correct formula in a cell and press ENTER. Then BOOM your Math problem is now solved.

As a friendly advice, it is better to compute your own Math problem than using MS Excel. But yeah it is a Com. Sci subject so we need to do it. Sir Tom also said that we will use it in the near future. I wonder if how near is that "near future"?

Sabado, Nobyembre 23, 2013

Activity for a week.

Sir Tom is out. I thought we will have a vacant during Com. Sci but I was wrong. Sir Tom is very eager to leave us an activity. So yeah I had to finish it in two meetings so that I could relax at the 3rd meeting. And MISSION SUCCESS. I was able to finish it!

Seriously, the IF Condition is hard because you need to memorize codes. And I'm not good at memorization. We had to use IF Condition in getting the average, average*percentage, final mark, remark & report/stats. It was COOL. Using "*" instead of "x" and other operations. Also the "AND" , "OR" and "NOT". I just can't imagine that MS Excel have this "thing".

Total Epicness

On our second meeting with Sir Tom after the strong damage of Yolanda in the Visayas, we are totally shocked when we had our first test. Sir Tom didn't teach us anything about the test so I taught it was a surprise test. I just "minnie, minnie, my nemo" cause hell I don't have any background experience of MS Excel.

After some minutes, Sir Tom looked at Paeng's score. He was shocked cause Paeng got 5. Then he realized that he haven't teach us. It was an epic fail. We don't have any idea of Data Types or parts of the MS Excel while the other sections was done with the test.

A Piece of Wisdom

Procrastination. I just delete it in my dictionary :)

On our first meeting with Sir Tom, he present us the curriculum guide for the Third Quarter. And hell, I'm not familiar with the topics. It's all about Microsoft Excel. In my whole life I didn't use this "thing" even I know it exist. When Sir Tom asked us if we had a question, no one raise his/her hand. So yeah, Sir Tom said a Word of Wisdom.

He said that in his generation, they used to raise their hand when the teacher asked them the same question. They were frank. They used to have some advance reading so that they will active during recitation. I must admit that Sir Tom's generation is far away from us. As the generation gets younger the people became more disorganize or disorder. Even we had questions about the topic we always keep our silence. And we had a habit or sayings "Bahala na bukas". Because I have an early New Years Resolution I will practice Sir Tom's little advice.

Determined

So yeah, time flies when you're having fun. Its been 5 months since I enter this school. So many things happened. So many lessons was learned. And because of too many things I can't digest some. Jogooo.

Hi Third Quarter,
Get panic cause I will be a DL.
                    Truly yours,
                Determined Girl :)

The third quarter is all about Microsoft Excel. Seriously, when I enter this school it is my very first time to use these things. But yeah, I am determined and I know I will cope up to the lessons. And I will not get 1.75 again in Com. Sci. So here I am starting to write a blog so that I will not cram again.

Hi Blog ☝

Hi Blog,

We meet again.

Truly yours,
Kirsten ❤

It's been 2 months since I last opened you. Remember that day when I'm posting some post for the Com. Sci. Project and now I'm doing the same thing. Reminisce the memories in the computer science lab. While doing this project I just realized that I should visit you often so that I would not cram again.

Blogs are very very cooooooool! You can post what you want to say just like a diary :)

Looooooooooong Test

Seriously, I review my notes and study for the long test. The Diamond and Sapphire people said that the test is very hard and I don't want to fail I become a "eagerita" (someone who is eager) I memorize the protocols and the HTML tags.

When the test begun, I was surprised that there were many questions in the number 1 and its all about the protocols and DNS. There were questions about HTML and Netiquettes. I am not confident with the True or False questions. Before passing my answers I pray first hoping that I would passed the exam.

BOOM! I got 64 :( I type protocal instead of protocol >_< Arghhh! I promise to myself that I should be careful when typing a filling the blanks questions.

The Power of Points

For good presentation

  • compelling material - looks attractive
  • Keep it simple.
  • Minimize numbers in slides - maximum of 10 slides.
  • Don't parrot Powerpoint.
  • Time your remarks.
  • Give it a rest.
  • Use vibrant colors.
  • Import other images & graphics.
  • Edit before presenting
While Sir Tom is discussing about this stuffs I was taking down some notes so that my powerpoint will looks good. If you follow the rules you'll have a good points that can make you a DL. That's the power of powerpoint :)

CSS Exercises

Cascading Style Sheet.

I get crazy with the CSS Exercises. Its like HTML but it is more complicated. In the HTML we use "<>" signs while in CSS we use "{}" signs. CSS is like sets (first topic in Math) when its your first time you think it is very hard but when you practice harder it becomes a chicken means easy for you. My CSS 1-5 is an epic fail. I think I forgot some signs like ";" ,":" and etc that's why it looks like a crap >_<

Microsoft Powerpoint

I admit that in my whole life I didn't use Microsoft Powerpoint. During my elementary years, we just present activities by the use of manila paper and pentel pen. I just say to my self that I can do it.  I just learned that the appropriate font size is 32 and should be 8 words and 8 lines. I learned so much in using the powerpoint :)

We are asked to make a powerpoint about my best interest which is "Kuroko's Basketball". My powerpoint is just only 7 slides because I'm running out of ideas and time. I use pictures and graphs.

HTML Quiz 1

It took me minutes before I realized that the HTML Quiz 1 is very hard. Yeah, it's very hard if you don't have any cheat. I consume half of the time figuring out how to divide the header with the main page and with the footer. Although the test is very hard I'm very happy that my webpage is close enough to the original one. I just forget to put a closing tag for the table. I couldn't remember how to put a hyperlink so my webpage looks EPIC -_-

But I enjoy the quiz :)))

Second Quiz

Our second quiz was about Netiquette. Waiiiiiit! What's netiquette ? Netiquettes are rules in the internet. I didn't study netiquette because I wasn't able copy some notes or review/scan lectures in the moodle. And I admit that I didn't pay attention while Sir Tom is discussing. I fell asleep because it's too cold in the Com. Sci. Lab. So I got 4 out of 10. I was tricked again by Sir Tom's questions. >_<

First Quiz

Protocols are rules that governs the communications between computers on a network. It seems to be easy. Yeah I admit that it's very easy if I memorize them. I was tricked by Sir Tom's questions. So I got 6 out of 10. Even I didn't study or scan my notes I was able to answer the questions by listening to Sir Tom's lecture.

Huwebes, Oktubre 3, 2013

HTML

"Waaahh! Paano naging ganito?"
"Arghhhh! Bakit may space ang header?"
"Ang tanga ko!"
"Submission Close"
"Sir, late ako ng 1 minute"

These are some of the lines I heard when taking the HTML Quiz 1. The atmosphere is on fire. I can only hear the sound of the keyboard and murmurs of y classmates. Each one is very focused on what they are doing. And I did that too. I can feel the sweating of my hands and feels so cold. Maybe I'm overreacting but I'm just so nervous that I might not pass my quiz.

Netiquette Exprience

Netiquette are the rules in the internet. And I must admit that I disobey some rules.

The whole discussion with Sir Tom turned out to be great though I fall asleep because it's too cold. But I was awakened when Sir Tom just said a pick-up line. And everyone is teasing each other. I was teasing Aldwin because he always flood me on text messages and my cellphone just keep on vibrating and vibrating. The last part, Sir Tom said we should not watch pornography. Gerd looked at me with an evil smile. I didn't watch porn. He just looked at me because of my surname. When we where in the Eme Room he said to my classmates that they shouldn't look at me or watch me.He's so mean >_<

CONCLUSION

I would say that the whole quarter in CS1 is very AWESOME. The room, teacher and the lessons complements with each other. I've learn many things and some cool stuff in the computer and its subject.

Encryption

The wikipedia says "In cryptographyencryption is the process of encoding messages (or information) in such a way that eavesdroppers or hackers cannot read it, but that authorized parties can." NOSEBLEED! Based on what I've learned or the simplest meaning "The process of converting a data into a secret code." Learning Encryption is very interesting. But understanding it is somehow difficult. Or maybe just ask Libuit because he's the one who can only understand his own handwritten which is the synonyms of encryption.

Small

Sometimes, I feel taking notes in my notebook but the one who made me lazy is when I am taking down the notes and I cannot see the last part because Rafael is so tall and he's blocking the screen. I feel very small.

P.S. Sir, please change the seating arrangement.

Chamba-chamba rin pag may time :D

I didn't memorize the commands in our command prompt practical test but I got 9 out of 10. I am very happy because its only a "chamba"! But honestly the commands are very easy. . . . .except the 10th command. Sir Tom didn't teach the 10th command that's why many of us didn't get a perfect score. But I was amazed to the students who got the 10th command. I was like "What the. How did you get the command?"

Microsoft Word Thingy

The Com. Sci. is more on lab outputs, one of this is the Microsoft Word Thingy. Page formatting, annotation, math equation, mail merge and etc. are some of the things we've done. Honestly, I think I know all the "checheburetse" in the MS Word but I was wrong. "This thing really exist?" I said on my mind.

Seriously, when I made the Course Outline, Class Schedule, and Graphical Design I feel very lazy and my head aches so I am not expecting to get a high grades. To be more specific my work is "puchu-puchu". When Sir Tom checked my work I saw in his eyes that he is not consistent. He often says "Tsk! Tsk!" that why I feel very nervous.

That's one of my experience in our Computer Science 1 class.

Is computer really important?

When I was still a kiddo when somebody ask me the importance of computer I would always say "For playing y8" Yes. I'm super addicted to y8 when I was in grade 2. But when I turn 9 years old, my Tita thought me to use the Microsoft Word for my projects. She say compu-type works are better than handwritten works. So the use for projects is on my list. As time pass, I used computer for research or in other word for "copy-paste." Computers also help you to communicate and socialize with other people with the help of yahoo messenger, facebook and others. So here's my list:
  • Playing computer games
  • For projects
  • Research
  • to communicate/ socialize

But computers have limitations. The excess usage of computer will lead you to poor eye sight (I'm very thankful that I don't wear eyeglasses even sometimes I use computer every day or every hour). When you get super duper addicted with the computer games,  you'll have less time for your study.

Computers have a very big role to the community but remember to use them in a proper way.

Hi Sir :)

I want you to meet the MOST HANDSOME TEACHER IN PSHS_BRC. . . .*tentereren*. . . Sir Tom Jordan Secundo.
(Naggigiyomi si Sir underwater.ASTIG)

"Memorizing is different from understanding. When you memorize, you'll eventually forget it but if you understand something, it becomes common knowledge to you."

This words were said by Sir Tom while were having a test which you will tell the meaning of some Com. Sci topic based of what you've learn. Its like a Word of Wisdom told by an angel sent from above.

I first met Sir Tom when we have an election for the PCSO officers. He called me "Sampung Kirs" which mean Kirsten. He was the club adviser. By that, I expect that he was very cool and have a sense of humor. The higher years told me that Sir Tom loves Adventure Time. I even saw him wearing a Adventure Time t-shirt. They also told me that he gives bonus questions related to Adventure Time. I feel very nervous because I didn't watch Adventure Time.

The most memorable experience with Sir Tom is when he gets angry with us because of the command prompt. He says, "The PSHS is not under DepEd and do not expect that the teacher will spoon-feed you." Honestly, the education here in Pisay is more difficult but as a scholar we should need to adjust with the new environment. Sir Tom teaches us many things that I would treasure a lot.

The Lab that I Love. . .The Com. Sci. Lab.

The Laboratory that I love is the Computer Science Laboratory. Why? Considering the fact that it is the only laboratory which is air conditioned (as far as I know). There is also 30 computers which made me realize that PSHS is so wealthy (yamaners) but some is malfunctioning that why you need to have a partner in some activities. And Sir Tom's computer/screen is so hi-tech.

Command Prompt

I didn't know that this thing really exist in the computer. Learning Command Prompt topic is somehow COOL. In just one command the files were deleted, renamed or etc. But you should also be careful when using the DOS when you gave the wrong command. . . .PATAY!
But when you learn how to use the command prompt properly it is a relief. :)

MOODLE, the coolest website.

The moodle is sooooo COOL. You don't need to copy notes for the power point or lectures you just need to visit the moodle and read there or in the better way listen to Sir Tom. You don't need to use a paper and ballpen when answering the test question, just use the moodle. And I just found out that you can also submit your assignment on moodle. How cool was that ? In fact, its like private facebook only use for Pisayanos you can chat with you're friends and greet you're schoolmate with a Happy Birthday.

Seriously, when I first open my moodle account I was like "How would I change my password?", "What I'm gonna do?" many questions popped in my mind but I was totally amazed by this website. This place is very incredible. It took me so long to fathom whoever programmed or create this website.

Expectations

When I was in elementary, we don't have any computer subject. Our school doesn't have enough funds to buy computers. But I am not an ignorant using a computer. In fact, I know how to use the Microsoft Word since I am 9 years old. When Ma'am Bue says our subjects I am very happy that there's a Computer Science subject. I really want to enhance more my skills in using computer and computer was my interest.

When we have our first meeting with Sir Tom, I am expecting that I will learn many things from his subject. Since this is a science high school, I believe that lazy teacher doesn't exist here. I am expecting that this subject would be difficult since I have no experience attending a computer class but I expect that Com. Sci would be fun.  I expect with Sir Tom that he would be patient with his student and a little bit strict. I want also a teacher with a sense of humor so that the subject would not be boring.

These are my expectations in Computer Science even they don't have the abilities I want. I accepted the challenge. The challenge that I would do my best in this subject.

P.S. Sorry for the wrong grammar
